Dates for Douglas requisition meetings

by isleofman.com 10th November 2006
Voters in Douglas will have the chance to question candidates in their constituencies, ahead of the general election, on four consecutive nights next week.

The Corporation's requisition meetings have been arranged by the Mayor, Councillor Betty Quirk, following approaches by rate payers.

All the meetings will start at 7:30 pm and finish at ten.

Edward Oldham reports (text of attached audio file):

On Monday, November 13, the Golf Clubhouse will be the venue for the South Douglas meeting.

On Tuesday candidates for North Douglas will be in Willaston Methodist Hall, and the following evening the spotlight will switch to West Douglas and All Saints' Church Hall.

The series will draw to a close in the Villa Marina Colonnade Suite, the venue for candidates in East Douglas, on Thursday.

Candidates will be given a chance to introduce themselves, before taking questions from the floor, which will be put to them, one at a time, through the chairman.

The chairmen, members of the town council, will be appointed by the Mayor in due course.
