Girl on crossing incident

by isleofman.com 9th November 2006
Ramsey police want to speak to the parents of a little girl who had a narrow escape from injury on a pedestrian crossing.

The girl, who is thought to be around 6 years old, ran on to the crossing on Queen's Pier Road in the town at around 5pm yesterday (Wed) whilst the traffic was still moving.

She collided with the bumper of a dark hatchback car and stumbled, but ran off towards Waterloo Road.

An unknown man who tried to stop the girl from running on to the road, and the driver of the car caught up with her and the girl's father on Waterloo Road, where they confirmed she wasn't injured, but no personal details were given at the time.

Police in Ramsey say they would like to speak to the unknown man who helped, and are also stressing to parents that they should ensure that children STOP, LOOK and LISTEN, and only walk on to the road when there is no moving traffic.
