Operation Atomic targets unruly kids

Police are asking parents to make sure they know where their children are and what they’re doing at weekends.

The plea comes after an operation on Friday night which saw 14 youths suspected of committing criminal offences and one young girl hospitalised through alcohol.

Operation Atomic tackles public order problems caused by large gatherings of young people – typically involving criminal damage, drinking and violence.

Constable Paul Kemp says he understands some children won’t be telling the truth when they tell their parents where they’re going at night, but has some advice for mums and dads:
