Pension supplement campaign continues

The Isle of Man Pensioners Association has written to all candidates in the forthcoming General Election to discover their views on the Island's Pension Supplement.

The Association has spent many years campaigning for a change, and in January of this year submitted a proposal to the DHSS which is still under consideration.

Currently only those who have paid into the Manx National Insurance Fund for ten years are eligible to receive it. The Association would like it paid to anyone who has LIVED here for ten years.

The Association's Public Relations Officer, Richard Leventhorpe says the issue has been left unresolved for far too long, and he rejects the idea that only those who have paid 'into the system' should be able to claim:
