An 18 year old man has been given 150 hours community service by the Deputy High Bailiff

Paul Robin Edwin Clague of East Bretney, Jurby, appeared for sentence after admitting damaging property and driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.

Howard Caine reports:

The defendant was detained by police on May 7th after witnesses reported the manner in which Clague was driving his car in Park Road, Ramsey.

He was speeding and drove with two wheels on the pavement for a distance of 40 metres.

On June 3rd saw Clague at 11.20pm outside Ramsey police station. He kicked the mirror of a police van which was parked there.

Clague was arrested and was described as being drunk. His advocate said his job depended on his driving licence. He was now very sorry for offending, he had been showing off to friends and had been stupid.

Mr Montgomery imposed five points on the defendant's licence, which already carried four.

He also extended his 'R' plate restriction from November 30th to May 30th.
