Public get to see man engine

It began as a school project and has continued, on and off, as something of a labour of love throughout a successful engineering career.

The construction of a model of a man engine, as used in the Laxey Mines all those years ago.

Although initially prepared in time for the 150th anniversary of the Laxey Wheel two years ago, it has now been on display in the Island again, this time with significant additions.

Its creator, Manxman Bill Kaighin who returned to the Island from his Cheltenham home to speak to the Lonan Men's Fellowship, hopes it will ultimately stay here for the public to view (audio file attached):
