Human Rights now in force

by isleofman.com 1st November 2006
It’s a landmark day in the Isle of Man.

From today (Wednesday), the Human Rights Act comes into force and is incorporated into Manx law.

Although the convention already applies in the Island, the introduction of the act means Island residents will be able to take action in local courts for alleged breaches of their human rights.

Isle of Man Law Society spokesman, Andrew Corlett, believes it’s long overdue.
