Bonfire causes problems

An abandoned bonfire could have had serious consequences last night.

At around half past eight, two pumps from Peel were called to deal with the blaze, which had almost spread to the hedge surrounding a plantation close to Eairy Cushlin.

Emergency services also found a number of large, used fireworks.

Station Officer, Alan Gawne, says if conditions had been drier and windier, the potential was there for a major fire:
