Pulrose row continues

by isleofman.com 30th October 2006
A political war-of-words has broken over exactly what is being done to improve conditions for residents of Upper Pulrose in Douglas.

Around 60 tenants voiced anger over the poor state-of-repair of their homes, at a public meeting on the estate on Friday.

Local MHK David Cretney says Douglas Corporation has seriously delayed the project to upgrade houses in Heather and Hazel Crescents.

And he's criticised the Corporation for not attending the meeting.

But leader David Chrisitan says local councillors weren't invited - and town hall officers didn't attend as they're planning their own meeting with residents.

Douglas South Keys candidate Bill Mullarkey last week highlighted the plight of one family in Upper Pulrose.

He remains unrepentant at getting involved - as he says the Corporation isn't listening to its own tenants: (second audio clip)
