Manx divers explore famous wreck

A group of divers from the Isle of Man have returned from a trip to the South China Sea where they successfully visited a vessel with Manx connections.

The wreck of HMS Repulse lies 50 miles off the coast of Malaysia. It formed part of Force Z defending Malaysia from Japanese invasion, and was sunk in 1941

Over 500 men were lost, and several Manxmen were among the crew, including Laxey man Walter Cowley, the grandfather of one of the divers

Steve Cowley says he decided to visit the wreck after speaking to his father, and the dive was very emotional:
