Hoax phone calls

by isleofman.com 25th October 2006
Manx Telecom and the Office of Fair Trading are warning the public of a possible hoax hitting the island.

A number of people have reported they've had messages left on their voice-mail or answerphone.

It claims to be from a company saying there is a message to collect but in fact there isn't one.

When the caller phones back they are put on hold for some time, and the number issued appears to cost ten pence per minute.

All Manx Telecom are being advised to ignore any such message, which a spokesperson says will only cost them money.
