Two men who tried to evade police and brandished a claw hammer in front of them have been sent to prison by the High Bailiff for motoring offences.
Twenty-three year old Mark Rosseter of Furman Close, Onchan, admitted an offence of allowing himself to be carried in a vehicle knowing it to be stolen, possessing an offensive weapon and not having insurance.
He was jailed for three and a half months.
Shane Malachi Hynes, also 23, admitted failing to stop after an accident, failing to stop for police, taking a vehicle without consent, drink driving, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
He was jailed for 24 weeks.

The court heard how at 6.05 am on September 9 police were alerted to look for a stolen van following reports that the two occupants were sounding the horn and shouting out of the windows, and apparently driving into cars deliberately.
The van was seen near Laxey by police being driven at speeds of between 60 and 70 miles per hour in urban areas and over the central lines.
Despite sounding sirens and illuminating lights on the police vehicle, the van carried on to Douglas where it was stopped by a police roadblock.
Rosseter produced a claw hammer but was restrained and put to the ground.
Hynes also had to be restrained and put to the ground.
He provided breath samples which gave a reading of 209 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The court heard he was disqualified in October 2003 for three years.
An advocate said both men were drunk and could not remember much about the incident.
They were both now ashamed of their behaviour and had been in custody since appearing in September.
They did not seek bail at that stage, and he asked the court to give them credit for that.
He said both men were receiving help for their alcohol problem in prison.
Hynes was banned from driving for six years, Rosseter was not given any additional ban because he was banned in 2004 for five years.
The high bailiff said the matters were extremely serious.
