Tourism awards

Some of the success stories in the Island's tourism industry have been recognised at an inaugural awards ceremony.

Presentations were made in eight categories at the Villa Marina after more than 2,000 nominations from locals and visitors alike.

The winners were:

Best Hotel: The Regency Hotel

Best Small Hotel/B+B:Aaron House, The Promenade, Port St Mary

Best Self Catering: Colooney Bungalows, Cooil Road, Braddan

Best Customer Service: Billy Stowell, Nautical Museum, Castletown

Best Restaurant: The Garrison, Castletown

Best Event: Mr Killey, Bowling Festival

Best Tourist Attraction: Isle of Man Steam Railway

Industry Nominated Award: Julie and David Maddrell from Ballahane House and Cottage

Tourism Minister David Cretney says it’s important to reward those who work tirelessly within the industry – and he believes the Island doesn’t always make enough of its success stories:
