Poppy appeal

by isleofman.com 24th October 2006
This year's Royal British Legion poppy appeal will be officially launched at the Strand Shopping Centre in Douglas on Saturday morning.

The Island’s enjoyed tremendous success for nearly three decades in raising more money, through the sales of poppies per head of population, than any other county in the British Isles.

And the Legion is also appealing for locals to come forward as volunteers in the run-up to Armistice Day.

The event will be compered by Ian Cannell, county president and former national RBL chairman.

Isle of Man county publicity officer, Major Charles Wilson, hopes the public supports Saturday’s launch.
