Landmark building to retain registration

An historic building in Castletown will retain its registered status, thanks to a vote in this week's Tynwald.

But that's as far as it goes for now, with no decision being made on the restoration of Number 5 The Parade.

The building was the subject of a long and hotly contested debate in Tynwald before the votes were cast.

Peel MHK Hazel Hannan (pictured) chaired a select committee which looked into the building's status, and says she's happy with the decision to keep it registered:
