Heritage partner honoured

by isleofman.com 20th October 2006
A southern farmer responsible for helping to maintain one of the Island's most important heritage sites has been honoured.

Manx National Heritage presented Andrew Moore with a copy of a painting of his farm, Balladoole, by William Hoggatt from the forties.

Mr Moore supplies MNH with traditionally harvested straw for its thatched cottages at Cregneash and Niarbyl.

His family still uses a reaper-binder method, whereas most modern combine harvesters break the straw.
