Sentence on a 17 year old man who assaulted a police officer after consuming more than 12 pints of beer has been adjourned by the Deputy High Bailiff for reports.

Joseph Paul Dooley of Approach Road, Ramsey, admitted the offence, plus another of being drunk and disorderly.

Rosemary Burnett prosecuting said police saw Dooley sitting in the middle of Parliament Street at 12.40am on September 16th and on noticing them Dooley tried to get up but had difficulty in standing.

Police arrested him for being drunk. He then started to shout and swear, and whilst police officer Jones was trying to place him in a police van he grabbed hold of him.

Dooley told police he had consumed between 12 and 13 pints of beer.

He was bailed until November 7th.
