Billion pound pension deficit

The Isle of Man Government is facing a ?1 billion civil service pension deficit.

The figure is contained in the report of a select committee chaired by Pam Crowe MLC.

She says the 'blackhole', which is increasing by ?50 million each year, should have been addressed earlier and as a result the government may have difficulty continuing to fund the liability.

There are many different schemes for civil servants, which Mrs Crowe (pictured) believes should be streamlined.

She also thinks there are other ways the help solve the crisis:
