The Department of Health and Social Security has announced it’s applied for planning permission for a new medical centre.

The new building will be alongside Noble’s Hospital in Strang, and will provide new premises for the Palatine Health Centre.

In a statement, the Department says the practice will relocate from its current Murray’s Road site to the proposed new location in Braddan.

It adds the Palatine Health Centre has expanded to the point where the move is vital and the new building will provide twice as much space.

A senior partner at the centre says it would have preferred a location in Central Douglas but there were no suitable sites.

Braddan Commissioners have made the site available and say they welcome the move.
