Farm project gets go ahead

by isleofman.com 16th October 2006
A farm in Patrick can carry out a major project to provide a new farmhouse and two tourist accommodation units.

DLGE Minister John Rimington overturned a decision by the planning committee to refuse permission for the development at Knockaloe Beg Farm.

The Department of Transport had objected to the proposals, saying it would impact on road safety along Knockaloe Beg Lane.

Jason Roberts reports:

Mr Rimington said he thought the plans were an acceptable and successful way of renovating the farm complex.

Despite calls for the farmhouse to be registered and protected, he said the decision had already been taken not to do so – which he supported.

He added planning inspector David Ward’s recommendation that road markings should be slightly modified had to be followed, but after this was done he saw no reason to refuse planning permission.

He dismissed the appeal by the DoT and gave the green light for the development.
