Lollipop man awaiting disciplinary report

by isleofman.com 12th October 2006
A disciplinary report, reviewing the suspension of a lollipop man at an Island school, has been completed and sent to the Department of Transport.

The report was commissioned by the Whitley Council after Michael Hunt was suspended from his duties outside Marown primary school for helping children cross the road away from his designated crossing point.

Mr Hunt argued the greater need for a lollipop man was around the corner in Glen Darragh Road.

Traffic signals were installed at the same spot in time for the new school term, effectively removing the need for a lollipop man, although Mr Hunt was told he would be offered alternative employment within government if he wanted it.

Mr Hunt (pictured) hasn't yet received a copy of the report.
