Whitehead jailed for ABH and theft

by isleofman.com 12th October 2006
A 19 year old man has been jailed for ten months by the High Bailiff. Dean Anthony Whitehead of Lord Street, Douglas, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and two offences of theft. Whitehead punched a man and then kicked him as he lay on the floor of a flat. He then put him out of the building, and the man was later discovered by police in Kingswood Grove. He was taken to Noble's Hospital where he received four days treatment for a head wound. At 5.15pm on August 12 the defendant stole a tips box from the Viking Hotel in Castletown. He was was arrested 20 minutes after the offence but later that month he stole a boxed set of DVDs and was again arrested. His advocate said tempers had been frayed between Whitehead and the man he assaulted, and drink had played a part. Whitehead was told he had an appalling record and the theft of the tips box was mean. He was also reminded that the theft was committed while he was on bail for the assault. The court heard Whitehead was in breach of his "expiry date", for which a further three months was added to the ten month sentence, to run consecutively.
