Buy Manx to slow down climate change

If you want to do something to slow down climate change, and help the Isle of Man's farming industry, then make sure you buy Manx food.

That's the message from the Manx National Farmers' Union which is launching a new campaign to encourage more of us to "think global and buy local".

The NFU says ten per cent of all carbon emissions are caused by the transportation of food and it has produced a car sticker urging us to cut "food miles" by asking for Manx food.

NFU Secretary Ffinlo Costain says greenhouse gases have a 30 year half-life, so we need to act now to protect the environment in years to come:
