Extra charges at Manchester Airport

by isleofman.com 11th October 2006
There are changes planned to the way passengers are picked up from all three terminals at Manchester Airport, that could affect Manx travellers.

And whilst enhanced security is being cited, Manx Radio's motoring correspondent Stuart Peters thinks there may also be a commercial consideration:

(Text of attached audio)
According to the Manchester Airport press office, from the 1st of November, people collecting passengers from Terminal One will be directed into the short-stay car park, which means they can't just pull up outside the terminal building as normal. So you'll HAVE to pay a parking fee to collect passengers.

This is then being implemented at Terminals 2 & 3 from January.

So in other words, the No Waiting signs at Ringway will mean exactly that - whether the driver stays with the car or not. The authorities say the changes are for 'safety and security reasons', rather than the ?1.80 a car they'll now make - even more of course if a flight is delayed.
