Ballasalla plan 'well received'

by isleofman.com 11th October 2006
Work on a development, which would create 250 new homes in Ballasalla, could begin next summer.

Plans for the scheme went on show in September, and it's anticipated they will be submitted in December.

It would involve demolishing the centre of the Clagh Vane estate and moving residents to new homes.

The new estate would also include first time buyer properties and larger family homes.

Kate Skinner reports:

Around 550 people viewed the plans in Ballasalla Village Hall and according to the Department of Local Government and the Environment, reaction to them was generally positive.

It says the majority were happy with the Crossag Farm development and welcomed the redevelopment proposals for Clagh Vane, which it's anticipated would be completed by Spring 2011.

Public sector tenants will be asked to join in further consultation sessions during October, and the department welcomes any ideas on how to make environmental improvements on the estate.
