Call for new police complaints system

There has been a renewed call for an appeals procedure to be set up for complainants against the police.

The call comes from Douglas North MHK, former commandant of the Special Constabulary, John Houghton.

He was speaking after allegations by five police officers against the Chief Constable, Mike Culverhouse, were found to be unsubstantiated.

The review was carried out by Hampshire Constabulary before former Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire, Sir Dan Crompton, concurred with the findings.
