Big response to recruitment drive

Hundreds of people applied to become police officers during the Isle of Man Constabulary's lastest recruitment drive.

The force received around 340 applications, and just under 50 of them have been picked to undergo further testing.

Six to eight people will become probationers, and will be trained locally.

Deputy Chief Constable, Mike Langdon, says the recruits are not extras, but are replacing people who have come to the end of their service:
