Corkill defence questions close

Defence advocate Dawn Jones (pictured, right) has concluded her questioning of Julie Corkill (pictured, left).

During questioning, which started yesterday and lasted a total of nearly five hours, Mrs Corkill told the court she had never been in trouble with the police before this incident.

She denied being bossy, demanding or ordering people around, or abusing her position as the then Chief Minister's wife, and similarly denied being dishonest with the Department of Tourism and Leisure.

Mrs Corkill claimed she had "never done a dishonest thing in her life"

Stuart Neale for the prosecution was due to begin his questioning at 11am when court resumed after a short break.

Mrs Corkill denies four counts of false accounting and two of obtaining a total of ?90,000 in tourism grants by deception.

The charges are in relation to the building of tourist accommodation at the Corkill's Ballacain property in Onchan.
