A 37 year old woman who spat at a man and was abusive to police has been fined ?300 by the Deputy High Bailiff.

Kay Pearson of Watterson Close, Douglas, admitted using threatening, abusive and insulting words or behaviour.

Stuart Peters has the details:

(Text of attached audio)
Sergeant Dan Bradford said just after midnight on September 16th, police attended a house in Christian Road, Douglas, following a call from an occupant to say that a woman was refusing to leave.

Police found Pearson who was very drunk. She was argumentative, abusive and aggressive and as she left the premises she spat at the occupant, a Mr O'Brien.

She was followed down Christian Road by police where she swore at them and was subsequently arrested.

Her advocate said that Pearson admitted she had a drink problem for which she was receiving treatment. Mr Montgomery told the defendant the only reason she was being fined ?300 was because of her limited income, and if he had the powers he would have sent her to prison.
