Julie Corkill gives evidence

by isleofman.com 9th October 2006
Julie Corkill has taken the stand at her trial at Douglas Courthouse.

Mrs Corkill denies four counts of false accounting and two of obtaining total of ?90,000 in tourism grants by deception.

Mrs Corkill told the court she paid for a lot of the work done on her Ballacain home at the time, and says she has been overcharged and even double charged.

Mr Corkill says invoices were resubmitted after she had paid.

She says she thought that the grant cheque from the Department of Tourism and Leisure for the first phase of contruction was 'about right' and banked it without questioning the amount.
