Drug busts on the up

Police drugs seizures are up in the last year, but the Chief Constable says he recognises the drugs scene here is becoming well established.

Mike Culverhouse was speaking after the publication of his annual report.

In 2004 to 2005 police seized just over 11g of heroin. Last year that figure leapt to 354g .

Likewise, cocaine seizures have gone up by well over 200g, and the street value of the drugs has more than doubled.

Mr Culverhouse says while the force has a responsibility to educate, it also has to focus on enforcement:
