Former Manx police officer arrested

A former Isle of Man Police officer appeared before magistrates in Bradford charged with firearms offences and burglary today.

Matt Brakewell is accused of carrying a firearm with intent to commit an offence, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to resist arrest and a burglary in Rochdale.

The 29 year from Lancashire was arrested at the Gala Bingo Hall on Tong Street in Bradford on Monday night. (Oct 2nd)

He has been remanded in custody until October 12th.

A spokesperson from the Isle of Man Constabulary says 'Mr Brakewell served with the Manx force between 2003 and spring 2006, when he left to pursue business interests in the United Kingdom.'
