Julie Corkill Trial update

by isleofman.com 2nd October 2006
The Julie Corkill trial resumed for 20 minutes today (Mon).

Prosecution advocate Stuart Neale stated he would like the case to continue with other witnesses, or adjourn for 6 weeks until key witness Willy Kelly was fit to resume his evidence.

Mr Kelly suffered an angina attack which halted proceedings on Friday morning,

He was released from hospital on Friday afternoon, but his consultant said he would only clear Mr Kelly to resume after a full recovery period.

Defence Advocate Dawn Jones asked for time to prepare her argument for whether to continue or not.

High Bailiff Michael adjourned the case until 11 o clock tomorrow morning.

Julie Corkill (pictured), the wife of former Chief Minister Richard Corkill, denies four charges of false accounting and two of obtaining money by deception, in connection with the payment of government grants towards tourist accommodation work at Ballacain.
