Public Protection officer appointed

Measures to protect vulnerable children and those suffering abuse in the home are soon to have a higher profile within the Island's police force.

The Chief Constable has appointed a senior officer to take the lead on all matters of 'public protection'.

Acting Detective Inspector Andy Turner will draw-up new strategies to tackle abuse - and deal with both victims and offenders.

The job will involve risk assessment on a vast scale - with the aim of reducing potential dangers to vulnerable people in society.
