Farewell to Canon Kelly

A special service will be held at St German's Cathedral in Peel today (Sunday) to mark the retirement of Canon Brian Kelly, after 29 years in the parish.

Canon Kelly says he's sad to go, but with the town's population growing steadily, it's time for fresh blood and a new outlook.

He'd been parish priest for just two years when in 1979 the church was made into a cathedral, changing its status on the Island and bringing him additional duties in the diocsese.

Canon Kelly says bidding the congregation farewell will not be easy (audio file attached):
