Archallagan update

by isleofman.com 29th September 2006
Plans for a controversial landfill at Archallagan plantation will be lodged imminently.

That's according to a spokesman for the Department of Local Government and the Environment who says they’re in the process of being finalised.

Earlier this year, Archallagan came out on top of a number of possible sites suitable for a landfill facility, despite concerns by a protest group over the site's suitability.

Planning consent had already been given for the site but the department attempted to have noise conditions relaxed last year, although that bid was subsequently withdrawn and potential sites reassessed.

Opponents of the scheme have vowed to continue their fight against the plans.
