Traffic camera success

The Island's first road safety camera has is proving highly successful

So far the red light camera has captured over fifty vehicles jumping the lights, including 23 cars, nine vans, 13 bicycles and 1 motorbike.

The junction of York Road and Woodbourne Road had been identified as an accident blackspot.

Traffic Engineer Hazel Fletcher from the Department of Transport says whilst no prosecutions have taken place so far, this is likely to change in the near future.
