Literary competition results

Judges have announced the winners of the Island’s annual Dr Olive Lamming Memorial Literary Competition.

The contest, run by the Department of Education since 1972, has three categories and a total of 67 entries were submitted this year.

In first place with a fictional story was Bill Cottle of Derbyshire with his tale of ‘Patrick and the Miracle’.

Coral Thomas won the factual article category with a piece entitled ‘India’, while Kathyryn Sharpe took the honours for the best poem.
