Electric blanket safety

The Manx public is being urged to get any electric blankets tested before putting them into use over the coming months.

Almost 5000 house fires a year in the United Kingdom are caused by old or damaged blankets.

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is offering free safety checks throughout the Island next week.

Chief Executive Ken Kinrade says past tests have revealed some blankets to be in a very poor state:
