McGuinness to be honoured

by isleofman.com 19th September 2006
TT legend John McGuinness could be just weeks away from being honoured in Lancaster, although he won’t now be made a freeman of the city.

The eleven times TT winner is the subject of a campaign by the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen newspaper, which is pressuring the council to recognise his achievements.

Sports editor at the Citizen Matt Donlan says even Lancaster’s mayor is a bike fan and she’s backing the campaign.

Mr Donlan hopes the council will make a decision in the very near future.
