by isleofman.com 19th September 2006
Police from the Eastern Neighbourhood Team are investigating a spate of thefts from cars in the Onchan area.

They are thought to have occurred overnight between Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th September.

A number of items of property, thought to have been stolen, have been recovered, but as yet no owners have been found.

Stuart Peters has the details:

Police say it's apparent that thieves have tried the doors of dozens of vehicles, both locked and unlocked, and the items were taken from vehicles which have been left insecure with valuables on display.

Goods recovered so far include a number of car keys and house keys, a "Marantec" garage door remote, a black BMW CD cartridge for an in-car stereo, a red fire master in-car fire extinguisher, a pair of black Halina binoculars and a silver torch.

The list is not exhaustive and residents of Onchan, especially in the lower end of the Port Jack area, are being asked to check and see if any items could be missing from their vehicles.

Owners are being reminded to ensure their cars are locked at all times when unattended.
