Cannan on election

by isleofman.com 18th September 2006
Michael MHK David Cannan (pictured) is calling for a "serious internal investigation" into the competence of the Electoral Registration Division of Treasury.

His call comes after the recent publication of the provisional results from the April 2006 census which shows the Island's resident population at 79,805, an increase of 3,490 persons since 2001.

Mr Cannan says the new figure "gives cause for reflection" when the Electoral Registration Officer published the electoral rolls instead showing a reduction of 10,000 persons eligible to vote.
