Dog fouling prosecution

by isleofman.com 16th September 2006
Douglas Corporation is praising a local resident who reported a woman to the authorities for allowing her dog to foul a pavement in Port-ee-Chee Avenue area.

The woman, Hayley Hall, was fined ?100, and has agreed to pay the local authority a further ?30 towards the cost of cleaning the pavement. She must also pays court costs of ?63.

Magistrates were told the man who reported Mrs. Hall to the Town Hall saw her dog foul the pavement and asked her to clear up the mess.

She refused to do so and was seen by a byelaws inspector, allowing the same thing to happen, the next day.

Mrs. Hall admitted two charges of allowing her dog to foul the pavement.

In a media statement the Corporation says it will take dog fouling to court at every opportunity.

It says a large number of people complain about dog fouling, which it describes as "such an anti-social act", but adds that not so many are willing to help to this extent.
