Big increase in population

by isleofman.com 16th September 2006
The Island’s population has risen to just under 80,000 and the figure is likely to increase!

Statistics released today show the number of residents has gone up by nearly 3,500 in the past five years.

Provisional results show the population on census night this year was 79,805 which was 3,490 more than census night in 2001.

The figure is based on the first input of census forms into the database and is likely to rise.

An initial report, giving the final population count, will be released in early November.
