Litter at sea

The Isle of Man's fishing fleet is being roped-in to help with a major new project to clean up Manx waters.

Fishermen are being asked to save litter from their nets and bring it ashore - rather than throw it back into the sea.

The campaign - Fishing for Litter - is launched by the Environment Department tomorrow.

It co-incides with an international programme of events on marine and beach conservation - and a lecture on the damage caused to marine life by litter at the Villa Marina from 10am on Friday.

Martin Hall is the DoE's Director of Environment, Safety and Health

He says fishermen won't object to helping out :
