A woman has been ordered to carry out 120 hours community service by the High Bailiff.

18 year old Emma Catherine Moore of Holland Bank, Tromode, appeared for sentence after admitting an offence of affray.

The offence was committed in Strand Street, Douglas at 11.30 am on May 19th.

Howard Caine reports:

The defendant and one Janine Tasker got involved in an argument and started pulling each other's hair and shouting, causing a crowd to gather.

In the struggle a large piece of Tasker's hair was pulled out.

Moore was arrested by a plain clothes police officer who was in the area at the time.

Her advocate said it was accepted Moore had previous convictions for violence, and she regretted getting involved. He suggested that probation, in addition to community service would also help Moore.

Mr Moyle said the public were sick and tired of violence on the streets, and he warned Moore that it was her last chance. He imposed two year's probation, and warned her what would happen if there was any breach of either the community service or probation.
