A rural highlight of the Manx autumn takes place today (Thurs).

The Cronk y Voddy Ploughing Match and Produce Show will be held in the grand marquee at Moaney Moar farm.

The event, which features over one hundred classes for everything from jams and confectionery to photography and crafts, taking in "heaviest turnip" and "pickled cabbage" along the way, will be opened by Captain of the Parish Philip Caley at 3 o'clock this afternoon.

The show also features the legendary "big spud" competition and at 7pm there's traditional lanket and thumb rope making.

Prizes will be presented at 8 o'clock this evening, and all the produce will then be auctioned off by auctioneer Peter Quayle.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Manx Diabetic group.
