Concern over retirement pension changes

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson says moves by the government to give pensioners more money are welcome, but not enough people will see extra cash.

He is speaking out after the DHSS announced it would relax benefit rules to allow many pensioners to claim up to ?10 per week in extra income support.

The department said it was trying to encourage people to save for private pensions, and stop penalising those who had savings.

But Mr Henderson (pictured) says it will only help a few of those struggling on low incomes:
