James Berry update

Two men charged with the manslaughter of teenage cyclist James Berry (pictured) have appeared in court today (Tuesday).

Philip Alexander Firth, 46, and David Martin Jones, 51, both of Santon, were granted bail in the sum of ?1,000 and will appear in court again on October the 10th.

Peter Carle, prosecuting, said he would be seeking an early committal.

Thirteen year-old James of Governor’s Hill was riding with friends on December the 29th last year when his bike was hit by a tyre from a passing truck at Greeba on the Douglas to Peel road.

He died in Noble’s Hospital a day later.
