Minister responds to prison critics

The Island's prison is failing in several key areas, according to a report by Her Majesty's Inspector of Prisons

It particularly criticises the healthcare of inmates, including a failure to assess the health needs of the prison population and lack of communication with the Island's health service.

The 30 recommendations included in the report have been accepted by the Department of Home Affairs and whilst the staff/prisoner relationship is a strength .
